Renuka I was referring to general people or masses not someone like a yogic guru who can even live without food for 1 or 2 years. Or in you case only sleep 4 - 5 hours a day and stil be good to go for the complete week.

Apart for this the sleep deprivation does not happen in 1 week or two week its shows its side effects gradually. There is no such thing like a quick reaction for sleep deprivation.

Sound sleep is important sleeping through out the day is not. Plus if you see an adult needs 7-8 hours of sound sleep if he does not get 7-8 hours of sound sleep (irrespective of if he sleep 10 hours) he\she still might seems like sleep deprived. So to follow a proper sleep cycle as given in the pic 1 is also important.

Kevin Rodrigues:

That is not true in all cases. In my case, I generally require around 7 hours of night time sound sleep. I never sleep during the day(yes even on weekends) unless I am sick or something. On the contrary my sister sleeps around 8-10 hours every day and even more on the weekends yet seems sleep deprived. My theory is that the body knows how much sleep it requires. When it feels that it needs more, it automatically tells us by signs of tiredness.
