Yeah I am a globe trot­ter now last week I saw Ams­ter­dam, Paris and Aus­tralia. This week I am plan­ning to go to Las Vegas & Lon­don. You must be think­ing I am out of my mind and I must be jok­ing. But my friend I am not joking.

This is how it started I was talk­ing to my friend in Aus­tralia and my friend kept on talk­ing about how the new neigh­bor­hood was so amaz­ing and I needed to come and see this place to believe it. The descrip­tion of that place was so highly rated by my friend that it made me wan­der that I should really see that place. And I made up my mind that I am going to see this place. But trav­el­ing is not an easy task, you have to plan for it in advance, research about all the place, pre­pare for the travel, take pains to travel long dis­tance to see beau­ti­ful places and fore­most you need to get holiday.

Even if I was ready to do all these things but you must still be think­ing how is it pos­si­ble to travel 3 dif­fer­ent places in one week. Yes it is pos­si­ble and that too with­out the has­sle of trip plan­ning, with­out money and less time.

Ear­lier peo­ple used to say if you read books you can visu­al­ize the world through it and you do not need to travel. Now this has changed if you have google maps you can see the world through it no need to visu­al­ize about it. This has been pos­si­ble with the help of the street view fea­ture pro­vided by google. Its not some­thing new it has been for a long time but I thought of recently putting it to test and see who it looks. The results are amazing.

What I did was very sim­ple. I typed in the address given by my friend and search in the google maps. I zoomed into that place and drag the small yel­low man icon(on the left hand side cor­ner of the map) to the street and walla you can now see the street view you can move around see the place as you were there at that point. This street view fea­ture is not avail­able for all the parts of the world but google maps is try­ing to cover most of it. Apart from this UNESCO has tied up with google to cover all the world her­itage sites so that we can view the sites from our home.

I know this does not gives you the exact feel­ing of the place but it gives you the best view. And when you are not wor­ried about all the trav­els plans, rush time, tick­et­ing, weather, money and time I believe this will def­i­nitely help you see some of the places you wish you were there this long weekend.

If artist can be inspired by a google street view and cre­ate a paint­ing out it why can I get to be the globe trotter.
